About Me
Movement Strategist | Organizer | Trainer
I’m Valerie Love, a seasoned movement strategist with more than 15 years leading people-powered campaigns for climate, justice, and systemic change. My specialty is facilitation: creating spaces where teams can navigate complexity, align around strategy, and turn vision into action.
Most recently, I served as Organizing Director at Greenpeace USA, leading our national grassroots strategy. I designed and produced the flagship Build, Lead, Win: Climate Action Training Series with Jane Fonda and movement leaders like Stacey Abrams and Marshall Ganz, equipping thousands of activists in voter mobilization, deep canvassing, and creative protest. Across three election cycles, our volunteer-powered programs mobilized volunteers to reach over 5 million voters.
As Director of Fire Drill Fridays, I led Greenpeace’s nationally recognized partnership with Jane Fonda — blending celebrity influence with grassroots organizing. The campaign reached over 3 million people, producing live shows and in-person events with members of Congress, frontline activists, celebrities, and scientists to elevate the urgency of climate action.
Earlier in my career at the Center for Biological Diversity, I built a nationwide distributed organizing network to protect public lands and endangered species, creating volunteer training pipelines and leading national mobilizations. My work helped stop destructive projects and mobilized communities across the country.
Beyond campaigns, I’ve invested deeply in leadership development and facilitation for the next generation. With Generation Waking Up, I facilitated youth leadership programs across the U.S., empowering young people to connect, awaken to global challenges, and step into their role as change-makers. I also co-designed and taught a college-accredited course on Leadership for Social Change, blending leadership skills, organizing practice, and personal development.
Over the past decade, I’ve contributed to some of the most pivotal environmental fights in the U.S. — from Keystone XL to federal fossil fuel leasing and oil train terminals. Across all of these, my strength has been facilitation: guiding coalitions, training leaders, and holding space for clarity and courage in high-stakes moments.
Known for combining strategic clarity with deep care for people, I build systems that scale, develop volunteer leadership ladders, and equip teams to turn passion into power.
Mission and Vision
My work is grounded in aligning head, heart, and hands with courage and love for the dignity of all. I envision a regenerative, multiracial democracy where people and planet thrive together — with systems rooted in care, resilience, and justice.
